July 22, 2019MOTÖRHEAD's official social media pages have been updated with a teaser video promoting the Motorhead79.com web site. 2019 marks the 40th anniversary of MOTÖRHEAD's "Overkill" and "Bomber" albums, and MOTÖRHEAD is celebrating all year long, with exciting, loud and heavy announcements to come over the course of the next few months.
This past April, MOTÖRHEAD released a special single, "Overkill / Bomber", on double picture disc seven-inch vinyl via BMG. The single featured a new 2019 remaster of the original "Overkill" single edit. The lavish double picture disc was housed in a gatefold sleeve, featuring iconic photos of the band, shot by Paul Slattery on February 8, 1979 in front of a huge Motörhead Snaggletooth mural on the Harrow Road in Paddington, London.
Three and a half years after Lemmy Kilmister has passed, the world still mourns the loss but MOTÖRHEAD is more than alive. Rock magazines worldwide have stories about MOTÖRHEAD in their issues on a regular basis, paying tribute to one of the legendary bands of all times. The iconic band shirt is still the most-sought-after merchandise item proudly worn by fans, friends and fellow musicians.
Year-end polls in music magazines show the influence Lemmy and his band MOTÖRHEAD had, the band made a big impact and the footprints they left are huge.
Lemmy died in December 2015 at the age of 70 shortly after learning he had been diagnosed with cancer.
He had dealt with several health issues over the last few years of his life, including heart trouble, forcing him to cut back on his famous smoking habits.
MOTÖRHEAD had to cancel a number of shows in 2015 because of Lemmy's poor health, although the band did manage to complete one final European tour a couple of weeks before his death.
